PALIKIR, Pohnpei—All citizens of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) who are aged sixty-five (65) years and above are encouraged to register for the CASH Power Assistance Program, which provides one hundred dollars ($100) to eligible persons in the form of direct utility assistance, such as prepaid electrical power cards. Persons interested in registering for the CASH Power Assistance Program are urged to reach out to their local Municipal Government for instructions on how to apply; further information on the program can also be sought at the FSM Department of Health & Social Affairs at +691-320-4682, +691-320-4683, or by email by contacting Mr. Stuard Penias at spenias@fsmhealth.fm
Developed by His Excellency David W. Panuelo, President of the FSM, and funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) through its COVID-19 Pandemic Response Option (CPRO) under the ADB’s Countercyclical Support Facility, the CASH Power Assistance Program is one of many Social Protection Programs created during the COVID-19 Pandemic with the intention of providing financial and other forms of relief to vulnerable populations.
Although all senior citizens aged 65 and older are eligible for the CASH Power Assistance Program, it is plausible that the program’s relatively limited funding could result in late registrations for the program to be denied its assistance. Thus, the FSM Government strongly encourages all senior citizens to register no later than close-of-business (5:00pm) on October 20th, 2022.
