Embassy of the Federated States of Micronesia Notes Supreme Court Decision Affirming Birthright Citizenship

The Embassy of the Federated States of Micronesia notes today’s important decision by the Supreme Court of the United States in Trump v. Barbara. By a vote of 6 to 3, the Court maintained birthright citizenship and affirmed that the Constitution guarantees citizenship to children born in the United States. As a result, birthright citizenship will continue under U.S. law with no changes.

The Federated States of Micronesia and the United States share an enduring relationship under the Compact of Free Association. Citizens of the FSM often live, work, and study in the United States as permitted by the Compact. The Embassy welcomes the decision today that preserves birthright citizenship.
