FSM Embassy Receives Courtesy Calls and Reaffirms Strong Bilateral Relations

Washington, D.C. – On August 05, 2024. Mr. Vincent Mut-Tracy, the United States in-coming Deputy Chief of Mission to the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Jackson T. Soram, FSM Ambassador to the United States. The meeting took place at the FSM Embassy in Washington D.C. Ambassador Soram congratulated him on his appointment as the new U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission to the FSM and extended best wishes. They discussed issues of mutual interest concerning the FSM-US bilateral relations and reaffirmed the commitment to continue working together transitioning into the next Amended Compact 2023. DCM Mut-Tracy will be departing for Palikir in the coming days. 

The next day, on August 06, 024, Ambassador Soram received another courtesy call by Her Excellency Rosemary Banks, Ambassador of New Zealand to the United States. Ambassador Banks and Ambassador Soram have known each other well from Ambassador Banks’ previous post in the same capacity (2018 – 2022). Their discussions centered around Pacific regional issues while at the same time reaffirming the strong relations between FSM and New Zealand. They both welcomed and looked forward to the upcoming visit of Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters to the FSM from August 12 – 14.

First Secretaries Nena Waguk and First Secretary Raleigh Welly provided staffing for the two respective meetings.
