November 11th was designated “FSM Veterans of Foreign Wars Day” in 2004 as a national holiday through FSM Public Law PL 13-38. On this day, we honor the services of FSM citizens who served in foreign wars through the U.S. Armed Forces. We join hands with families and friends across the United States in paying tribute to those Micronesians who had served in the US Armed Forces and had made great sacrifices alongside American soldiers. We salute their great contributions and are humbled by the ultimate sacrifices that some of them had paid with their lives fighting for freedom and democracy. With gratitude, we acknowledge the roles they play in enhancing and strengthening the US-FSM relations. In paying tribute we remind ourselves that these veterans of Micronesia are FSM’s finest testament to the enduring relationship that exists under the Compact of Free Association between the FSM and the United States.
