WENO, Chuuk—Immediately prior to his departure from the State of Chuuk, His Excellency David W. Panuelo—President of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM)—met with the Chuuk Council of Mayors. Chaired by the Honorable Justin Fritz, Mayor of Eot Municipality, the Council discussed multiple issues of import, such as how the residents of their municipalities can benefit from the Low-Income Assistance Program, the need for renewable energy and telecommunications connectivity, and requested infrastructure projects, such as a bridge for pedestrians from Satowan to Ta.
The majority of the discussion’s content was consistent with the President’s June 22nd meeting with the Honorable Alexander R. Narruhn, Governor of the State of Chuuk, and the Honorable Wesley W. Simina, Speaker of the 22nd FSM Congress, with emphasis on the Low-Income Assistance Program. The Mayors expressed their sincere appreciation for the Low-Income Assistance Program, and advised that they are confident it will serve the people in their communities in a visible and beneficial manner.
