The Embassy of Micronesia in Washington, D.C. would like to again remind our citizens residing in the US and its territories that, under the COFA Amendments Act of 2024, FSM students are now eligible for in-state tuition rates at U.S. public colleges and universities that participate in federal student aid programs under Title IV of the Higher Education Act.
This important benefit became effective on July 1, 2024, for the 2024–2025 academic year and applies to tuition charged on or after that date. In-state tuition can significantly lower the cost of attending college.
We strongly encourage our students to contact the financial aid office of their current or prospective academic institution to ensure they benefit from this policy and to confirm next steps.
Please note that this policy applies only to public institutions that receive federal funding through Title IV of the Higher Education Act. It does not apply to private colleges or universities.
