The Federated States of Micronesia Extends its Love to the People & Kingdom of Tonga by Donating $100,000 in Emergency Relief

PALIKIR, Pohnpei—On February 14th, 2022, His Excellency David W. Panuelo—President of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM)—signed Congressional Act 22-79, which has since become Public Law 22-81, which appropriates the sum of $100,000 from the General Fund of the FSM for the purpose of funding relief efforts in the Kingdom of Tonga due to the eruption of the Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Ha’apai volcano and subsequent tsunami.

“In my capacity as President of the FSM,” President Panuelo said in a statement, “I would like to first extend my sincerest appreciation to the Honorable Wesley W. Simina, Speaker of the FSM Congress, for Congress’ continued leadership. It is a blessing to know that each and every one of my colleagues in our National Congress are committed and devoted to public service, and committed to doing the right thing.”


“To the People & Kingdom of Tonga,” President Panuelo continued, “The People & Government of the FSM extend to you peace, friendship, cooperation, and love in our common humanity this February 14th, 2022.
